The Waves you can ride on

Though physically we have four brain systems ( though interlinked ), the difference between conscious, unconscious, subconscious brain / mind functions is mainly in method of usage and control. It is not yet convincingly known how the neural usage is decided and how the capacities are allocated for different applications.

The manner of control over process differentiates the output quality of practically same hardware usage. Conscious one is a natural and normal reactive function (different from instincts ); and subconscious one is a proactive function. Let us see how our biological hardware facilitates this.

Brain works on at least four different electrical wavelengths - like four different television channels. Each is associated with distinctive state of consciousness.

The Conscious Mind - it represents a mere 12% of the total mind's capacity, and can hold one single thought at a time – and that to not more than 7 character at a time and it depends on memory buffer when situation demands longer though put. Apart from reflex actions or instincts, it has control over our nervous system, and is responsible for the voluntary actions of our muscles.

It is said that the average human being handles about 12,000 different thoughts each day; it usually happens in a conscious state of mind(brain) when the frequency is 14+cycles a second when the attention diverted to the outside world and sensory stimuli's are strongly felt. The mind is fully capable of reactive thoughts and actions.

The conscious mind is mainly active when we are awake and is responsible for our decision making processes, or rationalization and analysis. It decides what action we will take, often based upon past subconscious experiences, and constantly re-assesses a situation to ensure that the correct action has been taken. Due to shorter memory capacity it only deals with the 'here and now' situation.

A transitory phase in between conscious and subconscious - During the ALPHA waves (8-13 cycles-per second) the eyes-are heavy or closed, the mind gets effortlessly associated with dreaming and light meditation state. In this cycle sensory stimulus is not sharp but they are felt subtly, the person is in receptive mood but interplay within the mind is relatively strong.
The Subconscious Mind

In Theta phase ( wave 4 to 7 cycles per second ) we get into a trance, whether induced as part of hypnosis, or as a natural process, our conscious mind becomes completely dormant, all senses are withdrawn from external world. The mind gets into all motor movements and reactive abilities are absent. In this frequency subconscious mind takes a person in deep meditative state and operates in a similar way to an auto-pilot on an aircraft – keeps on flying, should anything happen that requires the conscious mind to reawaken, it will do so immediately.
The subconscious mind takes up the remaining 88% of our brain's capacity, and could be compared to a massive computer system that stores all of the information regarding our location, situation, feelings etc. Unlike the three-dimensional intellectual brain, the subconscious brain operates in infinite dimensions creating new harmonies.

DELTA waves (.5 to 3 cycles per second) endow a total vacation from existence and provide the most profound feelings-of peace leading to deep-sleep.

These three are mind’s elevating states, where the progressive access to the permanent memory bank is possible, there are no interruptions and vetoes from the conscious mind – no survival compulsions, free thinking, imaginations, dreaming and other creative processes have full freedom – a boundless universe for the individual.

Can you imagine consciously the beauty and utility potentials of these ways? Do you now understand why we always think of sleeping over the matter?

It is essential to stimulate the senses with an agenda when these interplay are about to begin in he course of natural deep sleep process. This is one way the subconscious performs – we must ensure that we take maximum advantage of this universal process to generate more awareness and focused thinking.

However, this is not the only way one can invoke the powers of the subconscious. Yoga is meditative discipline that uses the mind and senses to create a communication between mind and body. It takes us to potential form of life force, lying dormant in our bodies. It causes awakening and spiritual maturation that can induce an altered state of consciousness. It adds to the original reservoir of subtle bio-energy and helps controlling and managing the energy flow and subsequent manifestation. Experts have contributed interpretations to the concept of Yoga; such as Physiological, Psychological, Clinical, Religious, Mythological and Spiritual.
